Six months into the Carolina ConsortiumWiley open access publishing partnership, authors at participating institutions have published just under three hundred scholarly articles through Wiley’s suite of hybrid open access journals, with more than one hundred and eighty of these articles authored or co-authored by researchers at UNC System schools. All articles published within this partnership are freely available online, meaning these scholarly works can be accessed, read, and used by students, researchers, and others in North and South Carolina, across the country, and around the world.

With article processing charge (APC) costs averaging around $3,300, the total cost savings for affiliated authors and institutions in this partnership is over $975,000–and growing–with a cost savings of nearly $600,000 for authors at UNC System schools.

Over forty members of the Carolina Consortium–including fourteen universities within the UNC System–are part of this new and exciting partnership with leading academic publisher Wiley.
