UNC’s mission—to discover, create, transmit, and apply knowledge to address the needs of individuals and society—remains true to the University’s founding ideal of shared knowledge in a free society. Open repositories throughout the System host and promote the scholarly materials produced by members of their communities and make them available to the global community. The repositories keep their communities’ digital scholarly output safe, accessible and discoverable for as long as needed. Faculty and other researchers can share the full range of their scholarly output, from working papers and technical reports to journal articles, monographs, conference proceedings, poster sessions, and data sets. Student work is also included in the repositories, featuring theses, dissertations, and undergraduate capstone projects.

UNC institutional repositories can be searched separately through the links below. In addition a cooperative effort called NC DOCKS (NC Digital Online Collection of Knowledge and Scholarship) allows cross-searching of 10 institutional repositories.
